Mr. Jacob Zachary Russell, 29, formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2011. Jacob was born in Forsyth County on April 20, 1982 to Calvin Ray Russell and Sharon Parks Russell. He was a graduate of North Davidson High School. He attended Hillcrest Baptist Church all of his life. Jacob served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He deployed twice to Iraq with the 3rd Infantry, 1st Marine Division of Camp Pendleton, California where he received a Purple Heart. Jacob is survived by his wife, Sgt. Christiane D. Russell of the United States Army; his four children, Wesley, Lexie, Christopher and Sarah; his parents; one sister, Betsy Essick and her husband, Matthew and their son Jake of Lexington, NC; his grandparents, Ernest and Louise Parks of Lexington, NC and William and Thelma Russell of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the V.A. National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC with full military honors. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the many Marines who have called, written, and stopped by to express their love and adoration for Jacob. Jacob held true to the Marine Corps values and always put those with whom he served first and foremost. Jacob was a stellar Marine, devoted husband, amazing father, loving son, loyal friend and horrible cook. Jacob will always be in our hearts. Revelation 21. 1-4, ""Semper Fi"".
