Jacob Daniel Pettitt

Mr. Jacob Daniel Pettitt, 15, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem. He was born November 6, 1997 in Forsyth Co. the son of Jason Daniel Pettitt and Chrystal Marion Pettitt. Jacob was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church where he was actively involved with their Youth Group. He currently was a sophomore at East Surry High School in Pilot Mountain. Jacob was an honor student and a member of the Alpha Omega Club. He was also a member of the East Surry Soccer Team and of the Northern Triad Soccer Club. Jacob was spirited and fun loving. He loved his family, friends, church, his East Surry Family, Wake Forest University and playing soccer. Jacob was extremely bright and his life ambition was to one day become a neurosurgeon. He was already working towards this goal. Jacob found great joy in helping others and even did so in the wake of such a tragic event. Jacob left this world a much better place than he found it. What has taken place following Jacob's accident has been nothing short of a miracle. He brought prayer back in our schools, he has united an entire community and area schools and he has strengthened what was already an amazing family. Jacob has opened hearts and touched lives, for all those who knew and loved him and those he had never even met. Though Jacob's life was short, he was and still is a true example of the love of Christ. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Donald Gray Pettitt and both his maternal and paternal great-grandparents. Jacob is survived by his parents, Jason and Chrystal Pettitt; his maternal grandparents, Grady and Brenda Marion; his paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Sandy Marion; and his God parents, Steve and Amy Parrish. He is also survived by his special parents, James and Monica Smith and many aunts, uncles and cousins that he loved dearly. Funeral services celebrating Jacob's life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Fairview United Methodist Church in Pinnacle with Rev. David Cook, Rev. Amy Coles and Rev. Tony Dowdy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Saturday evening, September 28, 2013 at Fairview United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials may be made to: Jacob Daniel Pettitt Fund, c/o Fairview United Methodist Church, 3692 Quaker Church Rd., Pinnacle, NC 27043. The family would like to express their sincere love and gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the 6th floor PICU at Brenner Children's Hospital. There are no words to describe the love and care that Jacob was given there. The family would also like to thank the faculty, staff and students at East Surry High School, as well as surrounding area schools for their love, support and relentless prayers. The family would also like to thank Dr. Gale Stone for her many years of love, care and encouragement.
