In Loving Memory of Jack
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jackie Lamar Sparks, a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, and a man of unwavering faith. He was born March 26, 1936 and passed away peacefully on January 28, 2024.
Jack obtained a degree in engineering from his beloved NC State, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of achievement and became a lifelong Wolfpack fan.
After graduation and proudly serving in the United States Army, Jack joined his father in the family's construction business. His dedication and hard work led him to eventually take the reins as the leader of the company following his father's passing. Under his guidance, the business flourished and became a testament to his leadership and commitment. The family would like to sincerely thank all Sparks Contracting Inc employees for their hard work and dedication to the company.
Beyond his professional success, Jack was a man deeply rooted in faith. He has been a longtime member of Salem Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, trustee, and Sunday school teacher, and helped to further the kingdom of Christ. His unwavering belief was a guiding light for his family and friends, offering them strength and solace in times of need.
Jack's servant's heart was exemplified by his many years of service as a Board member of the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission, where he dedicated his time and talent to helping others less fortunate.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Addie Rodriguez, Jack's loving caregiver of more than three years, and the staff of Trinity Elms Nursing Home.
Jack's greatest legacy lives on through his beloved family, particularly with his wonderful wife of 64 years, Peggy Bingham Sparks, his daughter, Elizabeth Sparks Robinson and her husband Steve: his son, Craig Dudley Sparks and his wife Shirl, and his grandchildren, Tyler Jack Sparks and his wife Alexandra, Joshua Craig Sparks and his wife Nancy, and Kathryn Anne Bingham Robinson. Jack was also able to celebrate two great-grandsons, Jack Sparks and Bo Sparks and one great-granddaughter on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Rita Rae Adams, and was preceded in death by his parents, George and Irene Sparks. Jack will be remembered not only for his accomplishments, but also for the warmth, love, faith, and kindness he brought into our lives.
A Memorial Service will be held at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel in Advance, NC with Rev. Floyd Boles officiating on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 2pm, preceded by a visitation from 1-2 pm. A private graveside service will be held for family only.
The family asks that contributions be made in Jack's memory to the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission or Salem Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
