Jack Wray Davis

Walkertown – Mr. Jack Wray Davis passed away peacefully March 7, 2025, at Kernersville Medical Center. He was born in Martinsville, VA on August 15, 1935, to the late Reuben Thomas Davis and Irene Shore Davis Atkins. He was a graduate of Waynesboro High School in GA. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1959 on the USS Robert L. Wilson DDE-847. He was a Damage Controlman DC3 to perform the work necessary for damage control, ship stability, and firefighting. They also prepare defenses against chemical, biological and radiological warfare attacks. He retired from the WS Housing Authority as a building inspector in 1988. He worked for himself “A Jack of All Trades” his passion in life was building and fixing things…whether it be electrical, plumbing, etc. The word “can’t” was never in his vocabulary.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first love, Mildred Davis, and was lucky enough to have a second love of his life, Sharon Elliott Davis, three brothers, Johnny, Gary, and “Pug” Davis, two sisters, Patricia Davis and Rebecca Flynt.

Left to cherish his memory are; his two daughters, Pam Maney (Tim), and Tina Davis; one son, Tim Davis (Wanda); three stepchildren, Denise Litaker, Paulette Arnold (Charles), and Lee Elliott; Nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne and Albert Davis; and one sister, Sylvia Baker; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Friday, March 14, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Tim Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 12:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
