Jack Spoon, Sr.

Mr. Jack Wingate Spoon, Sr., 82, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, May 1, 2009 at Britthaven of Kernersville. He was born March 31, 1927 in Forsyth County to Riley Eugene and Esther Cobel Spoon. Mr. Spoon was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy and was retired Circulation District Manager with the Winston-Salem Journal. He was preceded in death by Riley Spoon, Jr., Frank Spoon. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Bodsford Spoon; four children, Jack Spoon (Wanda) of Spartanburg, S.C., Mark Spoon (Lisa) of Kernersville, Richard Spoon of Winston-Salem, and Sandra Spoon (Warren), of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren, Jacquie, Rachel, Jordan, Brittany, Alec and Grayton; a sister, Betty Bornman. Funeral services will be held at 11: 00 a.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Jim Bowen. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
