Mr. Jack Dempsey Shreve, 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 30, 2012. He was born in Guilford Co. on September 1, 1926 to the late William Russell ""W.R."" Shreve and Lockie Belle Crouse Shreve. Jack was a member of Woodland Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 32 years of service. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Alpha Portis Shreve, a grandson, Tommy Cole and two sisters, Edna Sams and Betty Cooper. Jack is survived by a daughter, Sandy Hayes of Yadkinville, four sons, Ronnie D. Shreve (Pat) of E. Palestine, OH, Don W. Shreve (Alex) of Cape Carteret, Tim E. Shreve (Lisa) of Siloam and Chris Shreve (Michelle) of Siloam, six grandchildren, Joseph, Tricia, Corey, Travis, Hannah and Lauren, a great-grandson, Titus Alan Shreve, two sisters, Mildred Johnson of Colfax and Carol Bennett of Kernersville and one brother, Bill Shreve of Kernersville. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Bro. Don Collins and Travis Shreve officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. this evening Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mary O'rielly, Kevin Parkinson and the Ayers family for all the care and support shown to Jack over the last few years.
