Mr. Jack Lewis Russell, 91, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at his home in Rural Hall. He was born on August 1, 1933, in Virginia to the late Conley Russell and Agnes Weatherman Russell. Jack proudly served in the United States Navy for 30 years and was attached as a medic corp. man. During his stint, he was injured, earning one Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts for his brave service. After retiring from the military, he went in to training to work in the nursing home industry. Jack eventually became regional director of operations in the nursing home field. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Libby and June. Jack is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marlene Russell, two children; Trina Rothrock (Dwayne), and Derrick Edwin Russell (Shirley), Three grandchildren; Josh Gerry (Lori) Bethany Pritchett (Alan), and Josh Hamilton (Jackie); five great-grandchildren; Haylee Gerry, Colbie Gerry, Ada Pritchett, Anna Hamilton, and Broden Hamilton, one brother, Harry Russell (Edna), one sister, Janet Akers, and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday February 19, 2025, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with Rev. Mike Jefferson officiating.
Due to the forecast of inclement weather on Wednesday, per the request of the family, the service has been moved to the Rural Hall Chapel on Tuesday evening 6:00 PM February 18, 2025.
