Mr. Jack Franklin May, 89, of Winston-Salem died Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born July 28, 1921 in Canton, NC, the son of the late, Jack Franklin May, Sr. and Mable Parks May. Mr. May was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He served with the US Army during World War II and was retired from the Veterans Administration following 38 years of service. He was a member of The Scottish Rite and The Winston-Masonic Lodge # 167 AF/AM for 50 years. He was a member of Hillcrest Golf Association for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry P. May and his sister, Linda May Burns. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Margaret Brown May of the home; one son, Steven K. May of Charlotte; two daughters, Donna May Cheatwood and husband, V of Winston-Salem and Deborah May Schaeffer of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Steven Derek May, Brannon Kent May and wife, Candace, Drew McNeil Cheatwood, Ryan Monroe Cheatwood, Tyler Kurt Schaeffer, Ashley Nicole Schaeffer and Kaylee Elizabeth Schaeffer. A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Strange officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 7:30 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway.
