Mr. Jack Dean Laurence, 72, of Advance passed away November 13, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born June 4, 1938 in Ashe County to Clifford and Crystal Church Laurence. Mr. Laurence was a veteran of the United States Army and an active member of Mocks United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister-in-law, John and Carrie Laurence. Surviving is his wife, Mazie M. Laurence; a brother, Kent Laurence and wife Samantha of Buena Vista, VA; three sisters, Mary June Kimberlin and husband Winfred of West Jefferson, Sarah Johnston and husband Gwynn of Winston-Salem and Brenda Laurence of Fleetwood, NC; three nephews, Danny and Ricky Laurence and Kirk Elliott and three nieces, Karla McDonald, Joyce Mahaffey and Kay Marie Elliott. Jack was also dearly beloved by a nephew and two nieces, by marriage - Chaney Mathews, Katy Moore, and Elizabeth Smith. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Mocks United Methodist Church with Rev. Jonathan Brake officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Laurence Cemetery in Fleetwood, NC.
