Jack L. Holder

Jack L Holder, 80 years old of Clemmons was called into the more immediate presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in the early morning of March 21, 2012. Jack was born May 10, 1931 in Winston-Salem, the only child of Roy D. and Pauline Spainhour Holder. Jack joined Christ Moravian Church on Palm Sunday 1942. Jack and Sara Phelps were married on June 5. 1954. He moved his membership to Clemmons Moravian Church in 1957. Jack played in the Moravian Band at both churches. He has played at the Easter sunrise services in God's Acre at Old Salem for 69 years. Jack attended Granville Elementary School and Reynolds High School. He graduated from Clemmons High School in 1950 and continued to Brevard College where he earned an Associates Degree in Accounting in 1952. He started his career with R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co and RJR Archer where he retired in 1986 with 34 years of service. After retiring he continued with a consulting career for several packaging companies, mainly Winston Printing. Jack was a charter member of Clemmons Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad for 35 years. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America including Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and starting Explorer Post 14. Survivors include his wife, Sara Holder, son Alan L. and wife Judith Moore Holder, grandchildren Alexander L. and Meredith L. Holder of Raleigh. First cousin Mary Orrell of Winston-Salem, and a very special sister in law and brother in law Mae P. and George Woosley of Arcadia. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Clemmons Moravian Church with Rev. Q. Ray Burke officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard.
