Mr. Jack Monroe Hawks, 90, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Brookdale Senior Living. He was born in Lambsburg, VA to Otis and Ola Golding Hawks. Mr. Hawks served in the U.S. Navy during WWII stationed at Pearl Harbor. He retired from Lucent Technologies and was co-owner of J&S Motors. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Ruth Thomason Hawks; second wife, Peggy Spencer Hawks; son, Stanley Keith Hawks; three sisters, Lannie Rorrer, Hattie Berrier, Kathleen Hedderly. Surviving are two sons, Ronnie (Linda) Hawks of Goldsboro, Buddy (Dena) Hawks of Rural Hall; three grandchildren, Debbie Lee of Tampa, FL., Jason Hawks of Winston-Salem, Brian Hawks of Clemmons; three great grandchildren, Dylan Lee, Holly Rae Hawks, Emily Grace Hawks; one daughter-in-law, Diana Hawks; one brother, H.L. (Ozia) Hawks; two sisters, Ethel Rose and Georgie Bryant; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, May 3, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 4615 Dundas Drive, suite 103, Greensboro, NC 27407 or to Senior Services, Meals on Wheels, 2895 Shorefair Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
