Jack Davis Dent, Sr.

Mr. Jack Davis Dent, Sr., 89, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 12, 2016. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.

Jack was born May 20, 1927 in Clifton Forge, VA to Harry and Nell Dent. He worked for over 30 years at Bowman Gray School of Medicine as a medical photographer. In his free time, Jack enjoyed woodworking, devoting many months to create beautiful items. He was also a member of Highland Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles ""Eb"" Dent and William Dent.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen Martin Dent; sons, Jack Davis Dent, Jr. and wife Celeste and William ""Bill"" Martin Dent and wife Donna; grandchildren, Dorothy Jean Dent Kelley and husband Patrick, Rachael Sydney Dent Everton and husband Will, and Aaron Robbins and wife LoriBeth; and great grandchild, Camden Grace Kelley.

A celebration of Jack's life will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 11:30 A.M. at Highland Presbyterian Church with Pastor Randy Harris officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Jack may be made to Animal Adoption & Rescue Foundation (AARF), 311 Harvey St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
