Iva Jean Burnette

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, friend, and adored nana.  She departed from this world surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of love!

Mom’s best friend, her husband, “Bernie” of 55 yrs. She loved dad unconditionally and he was her world!   Mom would take such good care of everyone, but especially dad; coffee would be ready, daily pills set out for the morning and afternoon pills too.  There wasn’t much dad had to do every morning other than hit the start button on the coffee pot.

Mom loved her family and grand babies in a way you couldn’t measure and there was nothing…nothing she wouldn’t do for them “babies”.  She was the heart of our family.  She planned all the gatherings, family dinners, birthdays and vacations and she never wanted credit for anything.

She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her nurturing nature, and the countless lives she touched.  I wish I could name all of mom’s friends, but there’s not enough space!

We will miss mom deeply, but we are grateful for every moment we shared with her.  This isn’t goodbye.  This is just a temporary thing because with her faith in our heavenly Father, we know we WILL see Mom again.

Mom, we love you… the mostest!!

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Cora Bennett. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Ronnie Burnette; two sons, David Burnette (Elizabeth) and Brian Burnette (Annette); four grandchildren, Dustin Burnette, Dawson Burnette, Kailey Burnette, and Adyson Burnette; three brothers, Buddy Russ, Kenny Bennett, Mark Bennett (Donna); two sisters, Beverly Fallin (Ronnie) and Vickie James (Bobby) Brown; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday April 7, 2024, at Woodland Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Gammons officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Mom wanted donations to be made to her church, Woodland Baptist Church, which she loved along with her church family and most of all her preacher!
