Iris “Mae” Bowman Duggins, 92, of Kernersville, NC passed away peacefully Monday August 19, 2024. She was born on January 13, 1932, to the late Oscar Isaiah Bowman and Vera Tate Bowman.
Mae was a devoted member of the Bunker Hill United Methodist Church for many years and loved all her church friends dearly. Her love for Jesus was evident in many ways, one of which was her piano playing. Even close to her final days she may not have felt like it, but she would play and sing hymns from her piano. She was always happy to talk about her grandchildren and great grandchildren when any opportunity presented itself, as she had a lot to brag about. It’s also fitting that her first name is Iris as she had a deep love for flowers and flowering plants of every kind and color. However, most of all she loved her husband, Roger, whom she missed dearly, but is now reunited with in heaven.
Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Duggins, her son, Joel Duggins, three brothers Clay, Richard and Vestal Bowman, and one sister Betty Bowman Rumley.
Surviving are her son Mark Duggins (Allison); ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Bowman Adams (Calvin) and Mary Frances Bowman Pearson (Bill), along with many wonderful nieces and nephews, and some very loving brothers and sister’s in-law.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm on Sunday August 25, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Kernersville, NC with Pastor Andy Cook and grandson, Jeremy Duggins presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405 or Bunker Hill United Methodist Church,1510 Bunker Hill Sandy Ridge Road, Kernersville, NC 27284.
