Iris Woody Clore, 85, died on February 25, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on May 22, 1925 in Alamance County to Frank Nathaniel and Lola Boggs Woody. Mrs. Clore was a long time member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church where she actively served in Women's Fellowship, Christian education and on many committees. She graduated from Eli Whitney School in 1942 where she served as president of the student council and vice president of her senior class. She graduated from East Carolina Teachers College in 1946 with a degree in home economics. Mrs. Clore taught home economics at South Fork School until she met the love of her life, Robert Murray Clore and became a full time wife, mother and homemaker. Mrs. Clore was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of sixty one years. Surviving are three sons, Woody Clore and wife Barbara of Clemmons, Robert M. Clore Jr. and wife Latane of Clyde and Frank Clore and wife Betsy of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Rosanne Strickland and husband Rick of Winder, GA and Jeannette Clore of Cary; eight grandchildren, Adam Frye, Wendy Coulter (James), Elizabeth Clore, Jennifer Dackor (Ryan), David Clore (Christy), Jessica Hope Clore, Robert Lee Clore and Steven Todd Strickland (Stephanie); five great grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Dismuke, Olive Cashwell and Marilla Hodgin all of Saxapahaw, NC. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with Rev. Dr. Worth Green officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends following the service. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
