Iris Lee Idol Alley

KERNERSVILLE-Iris Lee Idol Alley, 90, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at her home. She was born August 24, 1920 in Guilford Co. to the late Burley Floyd and Sarah Smith Idol. Mrs. Alley retired from Archdale Manufacturing Co. after many years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Knight, Dorothy Teague; three brothers, Jack, Estil, and Buck Idol. Surviving are her husband, Alex Alley of the home; two daughters, Phyllis Griffith and husband Van, and Brenda Jordan all of Kernersville; two sons, Mike Alley of Kernersville and John Alley of Colfax; three brothers, Billy (Dot), Boots (Betty), and Coy Idol; two sisters, Laura Musten and Corena Lako; one sister-in-law, Nancy I. Idol; five grandchildren, Donovan Jordan, James Alley (Jennifer), Dawn Ritter (Mike), Aaron Griffith (Pam), and Ailene Griffith; five great-grandchildren, Adriane and Grady Griffith, Jacob and Joshua Alley, and Kyleigh Ritter. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2010 at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. David Rorie officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
