Irina A. Sarkisova

Mrs. Irina A. Sarkisova, 92, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, March 7, 2025. 

Irina was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, formally the Soviet Union, on February 22, 1933, to the late Mr. Aram Vartanov and Mrs. Maria Vartanova. She was a high school teacher for 35 years before coming to America in 1994 to begin a new life. 

Irina loved to bake and cook; she was known for her fabulous cakes and pastries. Irina also loved to craft and would make miniature angels out of beads. Above all, she was a loving Mama and Grandmama to her children and grandchildren. 

She was always willing to lend a helping hand. She volunteered countless hours at the local soup kitchen, and many knew her for her kind gestures and her selfless soul. 

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 2:00pm at Forsyth Memorial Park with Pastor Troy Lesher-Thomas officiating. 

The family will receive friends 5:00pm ~ 7:00pm Monday night at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
