A worship service to give thanks to God and celebrate the life of Irene Tucker will be held at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel on Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem NC on Saturday, December 6th at 2pm. The family will receive friends after the service in the parlor at Hayworth-Miller. Born Blanch Irene Kiger in Forsyth County NC on 18 Apr 1915 to John Irving Kiger and Callie Lee Draughn Kiger. Irene married Hiram Falcona ""H.F."" Tucker. They celebrated more than 60 years of life together. Will lee Tucker (Brown) was their only, much beloved child. Mrs. Tucker and her husband enjoyed many happy years in the congregation of Pine Grove Methodist Church where they were also active with the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Irene founded her own business, the Buena Vista Beauty Shop, where she was sole proprietor and hairdresser. Many women in Forsyth County enjoyed her beauty skills and were long-time clients at her shop on Biscayne Street in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Tucker died Wednesday November 26, 2008 at CMC North East Medical Center in Cabarrus County. Prior to her death she spent time at the Brian Center both in Winston-Salem and Cabarrus county. She is survived by her husband, H.F. Tucker of Concord NC, Grandchildren: Angela Flanders & husband Steve of Concord, NC Lisa Scruggs and husband Ed of Monroe NC and Gregory Brown and wife Saga of McLeansville, NC. Great Grandchildren Norman Sayers of Acworth, GA and Jacob and Kyle Flanders of Concord NC and beloved step great grandchildren Jessica and Jeffery Sayers and Jacklin Flanders. Her surviving brothers are Howard Glenn Kiger of Winston-Salem, John Irving Kiger of Winston-Salem, Hobart Lee Kiger of Savanna, GA and Worth Davis Kiger of Greenville, SC. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Willa Lee Brown, brothers Omar Draughn Kiger and Hugh Chatham Kiger and sister Ruth Evelyn Velek. She also leaves behind many beloved friends, cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to name.
