Mrs. Irene Montgomery Tucker, 86, passed away Friday November 18, 2011 at Vienna Village in Pfafftown. She was born January 31, 1925 in Patrick Co., VA to the late John D. Montgomery and Bessie East Montgomery. Mrs. Tucker was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville and enjoyed traveling, sewing, quilting, photography, tatting and cooking. As a resident of Vienna Village, she enjoyed activities such as bingo and Rook and also served as the ""unofficial photographer"" for many of the Vienna Village outings and gatherings. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Glenn Tucker, a brother, John R. Montgomery, a sister, Lolene Whitt and a step-grandchild. Mrs. Tucker is survived by her two sons, John L. Tucker and wife Judy of Winston-Salem and Thomas G. Tucker and wife Sara of Rural Hall, four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Tucker will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall with Rev. Eddie Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. this evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church of Stanleyville Building Fund, 851 Ziglar Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
