Irene Whitener Myers

Kernersville -Mrs Irene Whitener Myers, 83, of Kernersville, NC, went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 16, 2009, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Forsyth County on October 19, 1925, to the late William and Ruth Whitener. Mrs. Myers was a faithful and loyal member of Kerwin Baptist Church. For sixty years, she taught Sunday School at Woodland Baptist, Highland Park in Chattanooga, TN, Tabernacle Baptist in Greenville, S.C., Dyer Baptist in Dyer, IN, and Kerwin Baptist. She taught bible classes at Kerwin Baptist Christian School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, and her husband, Dr. Robert F. Myers, Associate Pastor of Kerwin Baptist Church for 17 years. Surviving are a brother, Ray Whitener (Becky) of Kernersville; two sisters, Louise Boyd of Kernersville, and Mae Parrish (Troy) of Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Sunday, January 18, 2009, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Kernersville Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, January 19, 2009, at Kerwin Baptist Church with Dr. Joe W. Myers and Dr. R. Zeno Groce officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown, NC. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their services and compassion for our loved one and our family.
