Irene Brewer Freeman

Mrs. Irene Brewer Freeman, 82, of Winston-Salem, NC, joined the presence of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 9, 2025. Irene was born in Forsyth County on July 29, 1942, to the late Mr. James Edward Brewer and Mrs. Nannie Pearl Phelps Brewer. 

She graduated from Griffith High School in 1960 and went on to work for Wachovia Bank as a Mortgage Processor. Irene was a faithful member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in New London, NC. She enjoyed crafting and decorating her home, especially during the Christmas season. She and her husband, Raymond, enjoyed traveling and together they saw every state but Alaska in their Motorhome. They made precious memories and sang many gospel hymns together. 

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in passing by her loving husband, Raymond C. Freeman; sister, Eva Tuttle; and brother, Butch Brewer. 

Left to cherish her loving memory are sister, Eula Sapp; brother, Jim Brewer; brother-in-law, Wiley Tuttle; and friends, Sally Eudy and Martha Shutt (Tom). 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, beginning at 11:00am at Faith Freewill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Friday, March 14, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Irene will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 34915 New London, NC 28127, or to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
