Infant Ezra Riddick Surgnier

Our sweet and precious little man was given his wings and called home to Jesus at 6:29 pm, Saturday, November 24, 2012. Ezra was such a blessing and literally touched the lives of thousands during his short time on this Earth. He was so full of life and so full of attitude! He was such a strong and brave little warrior in his battle with congenital heart disease and complications. Ezra enjoyed hair styling time and bonding with Mommy, cutting up and learning to smile with Daddy, playtime with Mi-Mi, being Papa Jeff's special little scutter, nap-time with Auntie Jessie, smiling and laughing with crazy Aunt Ibba, getting spoiled by Aunt Emma, playing with his wild cousins Tedy and Reece, and being held and cuddled by Granny Maureen and Grandma Angela. Ezzy especially enjoyed flirting with all his beautiful nurses and their late night secret parties they had together! Ezra was surrounded with love and brought a new understanding of life to us all. Surviving are Mommy and Daddy, Jason Surgnier and Anastasia Kennedy, Maternal Grandmother Angela Frazier, Maternal Grandfather Francis Kennedy, Aunt Emma Frazier, Great Maternal Grandmother Maureen Potts, Great Maternal Grandparents Robert (Patti) Duncan, Paternal Grandparents Jeff and Amelia Surgnier, Aunt Jessica and Uncle Joshua Wallace, cousins Tedy and Reece Rutledge, Aunt ""Ibba"" Olivia Surgnier, and Great Paternal Grandparents Robert and Jeanette Randall. Ezra had many people praying for him all over the world. We would like to take time and thank all of you for the prayers and continued support that you have shown during this difficult time. Especially our friends at Maple Springs United Methodist Church and Preschool, Winston-Salem First, and Calvary Baptist Church in King, NC. The kind and generous spirits of the Ronald McDonald House are always going to be remembered for the love you have shown our family. We are forever grateful for you. We would also like to thank the medical staff at Levine Children's Hospital for their incredible efforts and continued love and support for baby Ezzy. We are eternally grateful for the Doctors and Nurses of Brenner Children's Hospital for the love and hard work they poured into Ezzy's care. You never gave up even when the odds were all against him. You never stopped believing! You are all so special and we will always hold you very dear to our hearts. A celebration of Ezra's life will be held: Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Forsyth Memorial Cemetery on Yadkinville Road, Winston-Salem, NC. The family will receive friends at Maple Springs United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made at www.mendedlittlehearts.org or to The Ronald McDonald House, 419 Hawthorne Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
