Imogene Myers Stafford

Kernersville - Imogene M. Stafford, 82, went home to be with the Lord on March 27, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born in Forsyth Co. to the late Arville C. and Bessie Smith Myers. Imogene was a graduate of Sedge Garden High School, class of 1946. She was employed at Hanes Hosiery, Electronic Wholesalers, and Salem Electric Inc., where she worked until her health forced her to retire. She was a member of Waughtown Baptist Church where she attended while her health permitted. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching football, golf, and racing. But, by far her greatest enjoyment came from watching ""her"" Carolina Tarheels play basketball and football. She was a proud Tarheel through and through. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Nevelyn Petree, Norma Jordan, and Dorcas Mason, three brothers James, Roy, and Jack Myers. Surviving are; her loving and dedicated husband of 40 yrs. Dewey V. Stafford, of the home and her loving sister, Ava M. Hampton of Kernersville, a son, Ricky E. Grubbs (Rick) and wife Gwyn of Kernersville; a grandson;. Jason T. Grubbs and wife Jayne of Kernersville; a granddaughter, Ashley G. Parker and husband Chad of Raleigh; a great grandson, Harrison Henry Grubbs of Kernersville; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel by Rev. Don Farrow.
