Imogene Oakley Smith

OAK RIDGE-Imogene Oakley Smith, 92, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010 at her home. She was born May 24, 1917 in Stokes Co. to the late Charlie G. and Ruth Sands Oakley. Mrs. Smith was a member of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Coy Watson Smith; her son, Lewis Smith; and one sister, Sybil Reid. Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca Russell of Oak Ridge; her son, Gary Smith and wife Brenda of Stokesdale; five grandchildren, Greg, Kathy, Tina, Cindy, and Ian; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 pm Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Oak Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Michael Kurtz and Rev. Karen Kurtz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 pm Sunday prior to the service at the church.
