Mrs. Imogene Lucille Bowman Bean, 84, of Hickory passed away January 27, 2011 at Palliative Care Center & Hospice of Catawba Valley. She was born March 7, 1926 in Yadkin County to the late Luney Curtis Bowman and Erie Norman Bowman. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Bean and a sister, Frances Poindexter. Mrs. Bean was a graduate of East Bend High School, Class of 1942 and retired from Sara Lee Hosiery with over 45 years of service. She was an avid Carolina and N.C. State fan. She will be missed by her family and friends, including the many friends she made at Kingston Residence of Hickory. Mrs. Bean is survived by her daughter, Robin Howe (Randy); a son, James E. Bean, Jr. (Paula); four grandchildren, Shannon (Steven), Dennis, Allison, and Kristen; a great-granddaughter, Emily; a sister, Barbara Thore; a brother-in-law, Clint Poindexter and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home-Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Nicholas Poindexter officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Kingston Residence and the staff of Hospice of Catawba Valley.
