Ms. Ila Mae Speaks Raines of Midway passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born February 24, 1930 in Winston-Salem, the daughter of the late Millard Speaks and Edith Speaks Ferris. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter W. Raines and a brother, Clayborn Speaks. She is survived by two daughters, Lynn Hayes and husband, Tommy and Denise Martin of Midway; three grandchildren, Angie Bond, Jeff Hayes and Shad Hartness; three great grandchildren; one brother, David Speaks and wife Ann of Midway and one sister, Marie Padgett and husband Pete of Charlottesville, VA. She was a loving wife and mother and will be missed dearly. She will stay in our hearts forever! A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 3:00 PM at Parklawn Memorial Park with Program Minister Amanda Thomas officiating. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Hospice.
