Ms. Ila Mae Maranville, 96, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2022, at her home. She was born January 7, 1926, in Surry County to the late John Frank Ward and Pearl Marie Ward. Ila was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Temple and was regularly active in various areas of the church. She retired from Western Electric with 30 years’ service. Ila was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Harvey Maranville, Jr.; son-in-law, Mike Choplin; five siblings, Faye Bodenheimer, Everette Ward, Gene Ward, Glenn Ward, and Ethel Mabe. She is survived by her loving daughter, Carolyn Choplin; two grandchildren, Jennifer Bailey and husband Mickey Ray, John James Choplin, and wife Missy; five great-grandchildren, Justin Choplin, Austin Choplin, Jalen Sizemore, Lauren Hunter and husband Kody, Brandon Anderson; two great-great grandchildren Owen Hunter and Easton Hunter; one brother, Olin Ward, and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Crestview Memorial Park with Rev. Phillip Link Officiating.
