Mrs. Ila Fulk Hoots, 90, of Advance, NC passed away Monday, July 19, 2010 at her daughter's residence. Mrs. Hoots was born on June 22, 1920 in Stokes County, daughter of Robia Riley and Bessie Spainhour Fulk. She was a member of Advance First Baptist Church for over 50 years. Mrs. Hoots will always be remembered as a great cook. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Filmore Hoots; and five brothers Vernon, Everett, Robia, Clyde, and George Fulk. Mrs. Hoots is survived by two daughters, Gaye Hoots of Salter Path, and Faye Poindexter and husband Nick of the home; a son Phil Hoots of Vass; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Advance First Baptist Church with the Rev. Martin Kastner and Dr. Jimmy Hinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Advance First Baptist, P.O. Box 153, Advance, NC 27006. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Hospice, Home Health and all of their healthcare personnel who helped care for our Mother.
