Ida Joan "Jo" Walker

Miss Ida Joan ""Jo"" Walker, 68, of Winston-Salem won her battle with cancer May 1, 2014. She was born May 15, 1945 to David Gaston and Mattie Phillips Walker, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother David Walker (Vicki); two sisters Linda Walker Mabe, and Janet Walker Edwards; two nieces Jill Mabe Smitherman (Craig), and Catherine Edwards; one nephew Ryan Edwards (Sarah); two great- nephews Garrett Smitherman, and Zachary Edwards; one aunt Emma Phillips Davis; and numerous cousins. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday May 5, 2014 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev David Harman officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM Sunday May 4, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Bermuda Commons Nursing and Rehab Center and Liberty Hospice for the love and care that was given to Ida.
