KING-Ida ""Tuby"" Cecelia Deatherage Means, 75, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Village Care of King. She was born February 12, 1934 in Rockcastle Co., KY to the late Elza Edward and Geneva McHargue Deatherage. Mrs. Means was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Kernersville. She was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School class of 1952, and Good Samaritan Hospital Nursing Program in Lexington, KY class of 1955. Ida worked as a registered nurse in KY, ND, TX, and NC, she retired after 23 years of employment with Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center as an operating room nurse. Surviving are her husband, Thomas Stewart Means; her son, Timothy S. Means and wife Linda of Oak Ridge; two step-sons, Thomas S. Means and wife Barbara of Lebanon, OH, Dennis P. Means and wife Mary of Mason, OH; one brother, Carl B. Deatherage and wife Caroline of Adams, TN. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Main St. United Methodist Church in Kernersville with Dr. Jeff Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
