Ida Florence "Flo" James

Mrs. Ida Florence ""Flo"" East James, age 79 of Rural Hall passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. James was born in Forsyth County, September 3, 1934 to Samuel Paul East and Blanche Vernon East. She was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Flo was a member of Poplar Springs Church of Christ in King. She retired from Western Electric with 30 years of service. Flo loved Elvis, country music, and was a big fan and supporter of her husband's band throughout the years. She loved traveling and attending all her granddaughters' sporting events, graduations and anything her family did. Flo will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents Flo was preceded in death by a daughter, Vetral Yvonne James and one sister, Katherine East Anderson.

Mrs. James is survived by her husband of 60 years, Marvin James of the home. One daughter, Darlene James Palmer and her husband Steve of Rural Hall. Four granddaughters: Amanda Palmer-Thompson, Angela Palmer, Amilee Palmer and Stephanie Palmer. One nephew, Rick Anderson and his wife Terry. Special cousin, Vernon Bennett and a longtime friend, Betty Cooke.

Funeral services for Mrs. James will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Poplar Springs Church of Christ in King by Don Wallace, Minister. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall Friday evening May 2nd from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
