Hugh Talmage Holder, Sr.

Mr. Hugh Talmage Holder, Sr., 86, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at his residence. He was born April 23, 1930 in Forsyth County to the late Bessie Wooten Holder and Robert Raymond Holder, Sr. Mr. Holder proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Mr. Holder was a pitcher in the Semi-Pro Baseball League and was an avid golfer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holder was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Patsy Rideout Holder and five siblings: Ray, Doris, Bobbie, Amy, and Jim. He is survived by four children: Hugh T. ""Tam"" Holder, Jr. (Lori) of Tobaccoville, Van Allen Holder, Suzanne Morton (Donald Morton, Jr.), and Brian Holder all of Winston-Salem; and seven grandchildren: Andrew, Alex, Hannah, Matthew, Megan, Molly, and Miles. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 15 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Gary Byrum officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 14 at the funeral home. There will be a private committal service held for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
