Hugh Gray Adams

Mr. Hugh Gray Adams, 83, passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2012. He was born May 8, 1929 in Forsyth County to the late E. E. Adams and Mary Dickerson Adams. He was a member of Forsyth Friends Meeting. Mr. Adams was formerly employed with Pepsi. Being of the Quaker faith, he was a Conscientious Objector and worked at Butner Psychiatric Hospital in lieu of serving in the armed forces. Subsequently he became an accomplished carpenter specializing in home improvements. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Thelma Brown Adams and a brother, Leo Adams. He is survived by his children, Leona Tuttle and husband Don, and Larry Adams and wife PJ; four grandchildren, James Tuttle, Jon Tuttle and wife Kasey, Matthew Tuttle, and Griffin Adams; a great-grandson, Camden Tuttle; two sisters, Doris Cain and Sue Branson and husband Joe; four brothers, Bill Adams and wife Kathy, Jim Adams and wife Maggie, Mahlon Adams and wife Audrey, Sam Adams and wife Shirley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Henry E. May officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private graveside service will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
