Hubert Maxcy

Hubert Simpson Maxcy, a ffectionately known as “Maxie”, Hubert was born in Stoneville, NC on May 17, 1925 to the late Jurman David Maxcy and Betty (Newman) Maxcy. He was the widower of Mildred (Mitchell) Maxcy. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers; William Bill (Kathryn), Lloyd (Aaline) and Olin F. (Ruth). Mr. Maxcy is survived by a daughter, Jean Linville. Hubert is also survived by several nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law, Peggy Mitchell and a first cousin, Carolyn Bullins.

Mr. Maxcy graduated from Sandy Ridge High School in Sandy Ridge, NC. class of 1943. Hubert was an employee of Branch Motor Line for decades. He was also member of Gospel Light Baptist Church for over 65 years. Maxie will be remembered for is quick wit and humor. He loved to tell jokes on his friends and share old memories. He was also known for his love of pineapple cake, hot dogs, and almost any other food you could fit on a plate.

Due to the ongoing Covid Pandemic, there will be no formal visitation or receiving line with family present. However, friends and family are welcome to come to view as well as sign the register for Mr. Maxcy on Sunday, August 8, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel at 3950 Macy Grove Road, Kernersville, NC 27284.

A private graveside service for immediate family will be held at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. Masks are also required. He wanted his family and friends to be safe from illness. Paul M. Freeman, student at Wake Forest School of Divinity, is ministering to the family.

A Special thanks goes out to the Freeman family; for all their help during Mr. Maxcy’s recent struggle with dementia and a stroke. Thanks also to the Maxcy/Mitchell Family for calls, cards, prayers and visitation. Also, to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Care Center for their love, support, and generosity in Mr. Maxcy’s final days.
