Howard Wade Moore

Mr. Howard Wade Moore of Winston-Salem passed away April 7, 2010 at Brookridge Health Care Center. Mr. Moore was born March 13, 1930, in Rose Hill, VA, to the late James C. and Lura Epperson Moore. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University with a degree in Mathematics and Physics. He retired from Bell Systems as an electrical engineer after 34 years of service. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Howard was an avid fisherman. He loved the country and being outdoors and also loved spending time with family especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Alisa Moore Archenbronn and his brother, Dannie R. Moore. Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Brooks Moore; daughters, Sandy Moore Milton (Terry), Jennifer Moore Miller (Roger); son-in-law, Michael Archenbronn; grandchildren, Jason Harris, Kelby Snead, Chase Miller, Kaitlyn, Christine and Caroline Archenbronn; and brothers C. Cecil Moore (Geneva), Wiley M. Moore (Norma); sister-in-law, Edith Moore; and many other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Salem Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Saturday, April 10 at 7:00 pm conducted by Dr. Howard Wilburn. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be held at Jones Cemetery in Ewing, VA, Sunday April 11 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church or Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Winston-Salem.
