On July 29th of this year my dad, Howard QL Little Jr, known also as dad, grandpa, QL, and Howard passed from this world.
He was surrounded by his family, and a chaplain, and I believe he smiled when we all sang.
He had fought valiantly for 2 months, taking 5 falls in June and became sick during rehab. He was person who loved people, camping, football, fast food, chatting, and morning coffee. Dad was a junior, born to Howard QL Little Sr and Sara Jordan in Gibsonville, NC. He was the brother of Robert, Edgar and Ethel Anne. They grew in faith together and always met as Christmas. They attended Sunday School as a youth at Sharon Lutheran in Gibsonville, NC. Growing up he learned to play football - he broke his nose as a center, when tackled and protecting the QB.
QL went to Elon College, now a Elon University and graduated with a bs degree in Chemistry. He was hired as a pharmaceutical representative by Burroughs Wellcome and had an enormous territory. He was transferred to Memphis, where it was even larger. QL stayed in Tennessee, married his wife of 53 years, Anne Berry Little, and raised his children Elizabeth, and twinborn Deborah and Howard III (with QL's grand-daughters Iris Annemarie and Sophia QL Little). He continued in his walk of faith at congregations throughout his life, raising his family at Prince of Glory in Madison Heights, Michigan. When his father passed, he was transferred back to Winston Salem, NC to be near his mother. In Clemmons, NC he attended King of Glory Lutheran, before joining Hillsdale United Methodist, where he attended the last thirty years of his life. He was involved with community service through Kiwanis Club and the Boy Scouts of America, where he was a Cub and Scoutmaster. In his retirement, he continued a life long adventure in camping. During his life he visited National Parks in every state, many as an Airstream camper.
As was communicated with the passing of Pastor Dr. John Seifken, “If you have been blessed, you must go forth and be a blessing." Peace to all his family, friends, and loved ones.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Hillsdale Church by Pastor Jerry Webb. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
