Mr. Howard Glenn Kiger, 92, passed away June 29, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born December 10, 1916 in Forsyth County to the late John Irvin and Callie Draughan Kiger. Mr. Kiger was a member of First Christian Church on Country Club Road and was a Deacon for many years. He retired from Western Electric after 36 years of service and was a member of The Communication Workers of America and was also member of the Pioneer Masonic Lodge. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Aircorps during WW II in the China Burma India Theatre and was overseas for 31 months. Mr. Kiger was preceded in death by his two sisters, Irene Tucker and Ruth Velek, and his three brothers, Omar, Hugh, and Worth Kiger. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Kathryn Hendrix Kiger of the home; a daughter, Marian Kiger Kepley (Bob); a son, H. Glenn Kiger (Mary); five grandchildren, Thomas, Samuel, and William Kiger and Samantha and Julia Kepley; two brothers, John I. Kiger and Hobert L. Kiger. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Jefferson Church of Christ in Rural Hall with Dr. Mike Simpson officiating. The family is receiving friends and family at the home.
