Howard Hawks

Mr. Howard Layton Hawks, 91, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at his home. He was born December 24, 1929, in Lambsburg, VA the son of the late Otis Hawks and Ola Golding Hawks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ozias Hill Hawks; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce Hawks Spear and Bobby Spear; three sisters, Lannie Rorrer, Hattie Berrier and Kathleen Hedderly; and a brother, Jack Hawks. Mr. Hawks is survived by a daughter, Jeanete H. Slater (Andy); four grandchildren, Chris Spear (Amy), Kim Spear, Michael Slater and Michele Mankey (Joe); five great-grandchildren, Layton, Matthew, Colton, Sadie and Elizabeth; and two sisters, Ethel Rose and Georgie Bryant. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Saints Delight Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Mickey Leonard and Pastor Otis Hill officiating.
