Mr. Howard A. Hampton, 86, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born February 26, 1924 in Forsyth County to Robert W. and Caudia Pike Hampton. He was a veteran of WWII serving in U.S. Navy and was retired from Duke Power Company. Mr. Hampton was also a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the Winston Masonic Lodge #167. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Baynes Hampton, 2 sisters, Evelyn Rappaport and Lib Williams and a brother Bob Hampton. Surviving are a daughter, Pamela Hampton Miranda and husband, Jose; a son, Sterling A. Hampton and friend, Ms. Jackie Dudginski; two grandchildren, Whitney Anderson and Tyler Sparrgarren; two sisters, Kathyrn Hampton and Dorothy Marcus; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Bret Cogan, Rev. David Beaty and Rev. Gordon Kendal officiating.
