Hortensia Silva Villalon

Mrs. Hortensia Silva Villalon passed away Sunday morning, October 4, 2015 at Arbor Acres United Methodist Retirement Community. She was born in Cienfuegos, Cuba on September 27, 1913 to the late Felipe Silva Gil and Ana Fernandez. Hortensia was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and was retired from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System. She was preceded in death by her husband Jose Manuel Villalon. Hortensia is survived by two sons Manuel Felipe Villalon (Josefa Cristina) and Felipe Manuel Villalon (Mayra); two daughters Silvia Nilsen and Ana Maria Beery; step daughter Sara M. Delmas; six grandchildren Manuel Felipe (Ana), Cristina Maria (Ricardo), John Philip, Teresa Anna, Maria Christine, Ann Elizabeth; step grandchildren Andres Delmas (Isora) and Sara I. Delmas; and nine great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church with Father Carl Zdancewicz officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, October 5, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. Mrs. Villalon's family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Arbor Acres Fitzgerald Center for their compassionate and loving care.
