Mr. Horace Frank ""Rock"" Gengo, 79, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home. He fought a good fight and finished the course. He was born June 18, 1931 in Buffalo, NY to Michael Charles and Mary Sylvester Gengo. Mr. Gengo served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church. He enjoyed a lifetime of devotion to serving his Lord in many capacities of church ministry. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Tommye Gengo; a son, Mike Gengo and wife, Deb; a daughter, Elisa Gengo Burton and husband, Bill; two grandchildren, Ashley Burton and Rieti Gengo; two step grandchildren, Angela Lord and husband, Steve and Brady Burton; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Madeline Caliano and Barbara Kellam and husband, Al; a brother, Frank Gengo and wife, Janet; and a number of beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor Dr. Stephen M. Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park with Military Rites by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
