Tonnie and Hope Abbott were long time members of Bannertown Baptist church, Mother and Father of two wonderful children Toni and John Abbott. Grandparents of Christian Samuels, Kendra Samuels, Sydney Abbott, Tiffany Abbott, Nathan Edmonds, and Andrew Edmonds. Hope was the sister Jenny Butcher, Bob Bowden, Ed Bowden, Walter Bowden, and Dawn Mikels. Tonnie was the brother of Donna Peeples.
It’s hard to say if there is just one person out there for everyone, or if you consciously just choose the same one everyday after you meet them. They made all of their friends and family believe in both. They made the most of everyday because they had each other, and on the hard days maybe the effort to choose each other was harder but they both did it. Every single day. We will never forget the way they spoke so sweetly about each other when they weren’t together. Which typically wasn’t for more than a few hours out of a day. We all share so many memories that will be bound together in eternal laughter. So many days that we will never forget. The Love story of the century to forever hold onto and use as reference in our own lives in so many ways. It’s hard to imagine going forward without them but we couldn’t imagine going forward without them being together. They lived a beautiful life together for fifty five years. It was a simple life, they cared a lot about each other, a lot about their family, and a lot about their church. They touched many lives with the joy of Christ, a sense of humor, and two hearts full of unconditional Love. We will all find remembrances of their lives as our flowers begin to bloom in the spring as they tended dutifully to the earth with their four hands and cultivated flowers with more than dirt and water, they cultivated each section of garden with love, remembrances as we admire homemade bird houses carefully cut and put together and painted by Tonnie’s hands. As we look through our cabinets and find canned goods and jars of homemade apple butter the family will remember the times we had sitting on the porch skinning tomatoes, stringing beans, and finding the best blackberries in the bushel. As we pass bodies of water, or stop to dip a pole or some toes in. We will think of both of them. We will forever hold those memories in our hearts and we will carry their spirits with us and they will carry us through our next great adventures. What a beautiful life, it is with much peace that we lay their bodies to rest together, and with much joy that our hearts can know that they are in heaven together.  A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Bannertown Baptist Church with Rev. Don Charles and Pastor Jessie Butcher officiating.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the church.  Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
