Homer Gordon Hopkins, 86, of Winston-Salem died Saturday, December 12, 2009 at home. He was born June 19, 1923 in Buffalo Ridge, VA to the late Samuel Green and Bessie Rorrer Hopkins and grew up in Draper, NC. He retired from Roadway Express with 35 years of service and was an avid golfer and a passionate member of the National Association of Left Handed Golfers. He played in various tournaments all over the United States. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Kathleen Barrow Hopkins and a daughter, Tina Leigh Hopkins. He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Dewey, Ernest, Leonard, Ralph, Christine, and Vera. Surviving are his daughters, Patsy Martin and husband Charlie and Peggy Bayne and husband Russell; a son, Rex Gordon Hopkins; Grandchildren, Sgt. Michael Douglas Hopkins, Jill Aaron, Dana Aaron Hunt, Travis Hopkins, and Shanna Hopkins; two great-grandchildren, Kaileb Bracley and Dalton Hunt; brothers and sisters, Lawrence, Virginia, Vivian, Pauline, and Janice. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Parklawn Memorial Park with Chaplain Bill Teague officiating.
