KERNERSVILLE-Hobert Scott, 83 the last of eight children, passed away Monday, August 03, 2009 at his home. He was born July 8, 1926 in Wilkes Co. to the late Nathan Horton and Mallie Marshall Scott. Hobert was a WWII Army Veteran, having served with the 88th Infantry Division ""Blue Devils"" in Italy as a member of the Special Police. He was a professional truck driver for McLean Trucking Company for over 35 years, and had driven over 3 million miles. After he retired, he loved raising his cows on the farm, canning, cooking, and gardening. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Albert Clifton Scott, Juanita Lamb, Louise Loftis, Topsy Ellis, Nathan Odell Scott, Herbert Scott, and Jesse Willard Scott. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Marie Scott; four children, Ronald (Gail) Scott, Judye (Mark) Adkins, Deborah (Donald) Culler, and Tony ""Mike"" (Robin) Scott; seven grandchildren, Derek (Tiffany) Culler, Mandy Scott, Bonnie Scott, Kyle Scott, Michelle Scott, Jeremy Adkins, and Jennifer Adkins; three great-grandchildren, Makayla Marr, Dylan Culler, and Samantha Culler; one step-grandchild, Kelly (Tad) Kramp; and one step-great-grandchild, Lily Kramp. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, August 7, 2009 at Union Cross Baptist Church with the Pastor Wayne Eller, and the Pastor Mark Ashworth officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9pm Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
