Hobert Lee Carter, Sr.

Advance-Mr. Hobert Lee Carter, Sr., 80, passed away Friday, March 30, 2012 at his home. He was born February 23, 1932 in Davie County to the late Roy Lee and Lucille Sidden Carter. Mr. Carter was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Mocks United Methodist Church. Mr. Carter enjoyed farming with his brother, Bill and loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Peggy Carter; daughter, Lucille Hartman (Eddie) of Advance and a son, H.L. Carter (Cheryl) of Advance; five grandchildren, Ashley, Dustin, Josh, Drew, and Tara; five great-grandchildren, Walker, Bentley, Alizah, Dominick, and Alexandria; brother, Bill Carter (Linda); two sisters, Thomasine Norman (Vernon) and Irillia Neil; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, April 2, 2012 at Mocks United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals-on-Wheels Davie County Senior Center, 140 S. Main St. Mocksville, NC 27028, Mocks United Methodist Church, PO Box 2122 Advance, NC 27006, or to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 377 Hospital St. Suite 103 Mocksville, NC 27028.
