Ms. Hilda Delores Gentry McKnight, 87, of Winston-Salem, passed away at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. Hilda was born in Roxboro, NC on July 16, 1935, to the late George Thomas Gentry and Sally Morton Gentry. She was a longtime faithful member of Clemmons Moravian Church. Hilda was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She was a retired teacher from the WS/FC School System with 34 years of service and two-time recipient of Teacher of the Year. Hilda enjoyed being with her family more than anything, making Moravian Advent stars and sharing her passion with others, painting, golfing, attending church, and singing in the choir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Lamberth Gentry, Estelle Todd, Marshall Gentry, Thomas Gentry, Ircil Gentry, Sue Ingram, and John Gentry. She is survived by her son, Bart McKnight and wife, Linda; three granddaughters, Landis Wilson and husband, Jason, Haley McKnight, and Katie McKnight; one great granddaughter, Layla Wilson; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Clemmons Moravian Church with Rev. Christopher C. Thore and Rev. Ray Burke officiating. Interment will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends following the burial in the church fellowship hall. The family is accepting flowers or memorials may be made to Clemmons Moravian Church, 3560 Spangenburg Ave., P.O. Box 730, Clemmons, NC 27012 or Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Ms. McKnight.
