Hester Alley Combs

Mrs. Hester Alley Combs, 95, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the Brian Center Nursing Home. She was born May 22, 1915 in Stokes County, NC to the late Alexander Martin and Mary Alice Martin Alley. She was a member of Twin City Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her first husband, Chester Peddycord; former husband, Clifton Combs; daughter, Catherine Adele Peddycord; three sisters and three brothers. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Fran Briggs and husband Doug; step-daughter, Norma Bowen; granddaughter, Angela Kirby and husband Terry; step-grandsons, Danny Briggs and wife Deborah and Jeff Briggs and wife Lisa; great-granddaughters, Stephanie Gillen and husband Ray and Amanda Sapp; step-great grandchildren, Lauren, Allie, and Emma Briggs; great-great grandchildren, Madison, Ray, and Christina Gillen; also surviving are a brother, Alexander Alley and a special caregiver, Becky Martin. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, November 29, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Charles L. Tanner officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
