KERNERSVILLE-Herndon H. Wyse ""Pappaw"", 85 a loving father and grandfather passed away Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation. He was born November 2, 1924 in Falls Mills, VA to the late Charles Dexter and Hazel Worley Wise. Mr. Wyse was a member of Welcome Door Baptist Church. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy having served on the Fall River cruiser and the Omaha cruiser. He also was involved in the invasion of Southern France. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Effie ""Jackie"" Surber Wyse; his step-mother, Bertha Wise; three brothers, Daniel, Jesse ""Sonny"", Charles Dexter Jr.; three sisters, Kathleen Honaker, Jeanette Harris, and Ora Lee Wise. Surviving are four daughters, Terry Sharp and husband Ted, Patricia Pratt, Jackie Parrish all of Kernersville, and Marsha Coppedge of Ruckersville, VA; three grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; step-brother, Curtis Honaker and wife Betty; and step-sister, Fannie Shinault and husband Bill all of Bluefield, WV. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Welcome Door Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Pinnix, Associate Pastor Danny Hemric, and the Rev. Johnny Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with military rites.
