Hermon Lowell Aycoth, 90, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023. He was born on November 26, 1932, in Forsyth County to the late George Otis Aycoth and Minnie Snow Aycoth. He enlisted in the Army at age 17 and served in the Korean War, during which time he was held prisoner of war for 32 months. Hermon was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals, among other military awards. Hermon went to work at RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company after his service in the Army. He retired from Reynolds after 35 years of service. Hermon was also a horse reiner for many years, breeding and training horses for competition in NRHA shows.
Along with his parents, Hermon is preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Pegram Aycoth, two sisters, Marlyn Cornatzer, and Mary “Linda” Moore.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Peggy Smith (Nathan) of Mocksville; one niece and two nephews.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with Pastor Brian Taylor officiating. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
