Herman Mazzeo

Mr. Herman "Duffy" Henry Mazzeo 65 of Winston Salem passed away peacefully at Novant Forsyth Health Center. Duffy was a parishioner of Saint Leos the Great Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp having served in the Vietnam Conflict. Duffy was recognized with the Louis E. Peters Award which is presented to private citizens who selflessly dedicate their time and services to assist the FBI in uncovering criminal activity, it is the highest public service award awarded by the FBI. Duffy was also the co-owner of Triad Transportation and had formerly owned Blue-Bird Cab. He was passionate about his family, fishing and good food. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vito and Lucy Damico Mazzeo; his wife, Mary Comer Mazzeo; a sister Antoinette and brothers, Richard and Vito. He is survived by his children, Vincent Willis and wife Anne, Jason Caponi and wife, Angela, Laura "Toni" Gouch and husband Jarrett, Duffie Dawn Mazzeo and Cruz Perez; his sister, Mary Savage; fourteen grandchildren, Jayla, Jacob, Lexi, T.J., Jeremy, Elyssa, Vito, Rocco, Clayton, Ryan, Zach, Ally, Emily and Nikki; four great grandchildren, Mason, Dawson, Jacob and Caleb and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 21, 2017 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church with Fr. Felix Nkafu celebrating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
